Midweek Gordy’s Shakedown run

Wed Oct 7, 2026 9:00AM

 Participant Responsibility Notice

New Mexico 4-Wheelers guests and members will be meeting for a group activity as indicated below. Drivers are responsible for the safe operation of their own vehicles and should evaluate obstacles based on their own comfort and experience level and vehicle capability.

This is a volunteer recreational activity. Participants are responsible for their own safety, vehicle operation, and compliance with land-use rules.

This will be an opportunity to get in a last minute pre-Chile Challenge ride to work out any bugs before the big event. I'm also wanting to do a shakedown run with my new truck and trailer setup to fine tune before the longer highway ride to Caballo Lake.

Because of all the heavy rains in the past few weeks, conditions have deteriorated so I'm going to stick with easier familiar trails. We will begin the day on Lower Amado (lvl 5), then up the Great Escape(lvl 3) and over to Fred's Shortcut (lvl 5). That will take us to Cat Scratch (lvl6). If time permits, we can head over to Coyote Canyon to end the day.

Be advised that there was significant erosion and wet, muddy conditions on all trails last week on Mary's ride, making most trails more challenging. Pinstriping is likely, body damage always a possibility, especially on 4 door rigs.

Vehicle requirements as follow:

Minimum 33 inch tires - contact me for exceptions.

2 inch lift with Full skids and sliders

2 working lockers

Working winch, front and rear recovery points
